Strategy focuses on domestic capability and technology development
Australia needs its research and innovation sectors to support “the most pressing defence and security priorities”, according to the 2024 National Defence Strategy and associated investment plan.
The documents, published on 17 April, say the Australian Defence Force’s need for “next-generation” capabilities was underlined by the Ukrainian fightback against Russia, which had shown how technology could give an “asymmetric advantage”.
