UK Research and Innovation given three-year allocation of over £25 billion
The government has handed national funder UK Research and Innovation a “record” three-year budget, bringing stability to future spending but failing to fully allay concerns that soaring inflation will eat up much of the money.
On 30 May the government confirmed that UKRI’s budget will increase from around £7.9 billion in 2022-23, to around £8.4bn in 2023-24. In 2024-25 it will reach £8.9bn—an increase of 14 per cent compared with 2021-22.
