From the archive: Rallying to fight ovarian cancer

The US specialist funder whose main programme is researcher-led and open to international applications

The Rivkin Center for Ovarian Cancer’s Pilot Study Awards are a mainstay of the global fight against a disease estimated to take more than 200,000 lives worldwide each year. This year’s deadline is 1 December. Grants can be held for up to two years and applications are accepted from anywhere in the world.

As Kiran Dhillon, then director of scientific programmes for the Rivkin Center, explained in this interview from 2017, unlike many charitable or non-profit medical institutions, the Rivkin Center does not only support projects likely to have a clinical impact in the short term, but funds work throughout the development pipeline and within public health and prevention.
