When applying for the EPSRC’s equipment funding, think about how the kit will benefit others

There are two deadlines scheduled for the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council’s Strategic Equipment scheme this year, with the next on 5 May. In 2019 Ben Upton caught up with Alastair Florence, professor of pharmaceutical sciences at the University of Strathclyde and director of its Centre for Continuous Manufacturing and Advanced Crystallisation, to discuss his then recent grant win. His key advice to future applicants was to think hard about and foreground the impact of equipment purchase outside one’s own department and university.
