Without the right equipment, scientific insights are hard to test—which is a problem faced by many researchers working in cash-strapped environments. Under a scheme run by The World Academy of Sciences, researchers in 66 “science and technology-lagging countries” can apply for grants to purchase the equipment they need for basic science projects in biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics.
