UKRI scheme looks into the dark past of environmental research to build a brighter future

Top tips

  • Focus on co-creation of the proposal and involve community groups from the beginning.
  • Read UK Research and Innovation’s Creating Living Knowledge report for an understanding of how best to work with communities.
  • Research should be a genuine collaboration, not led by any one discipline.
  • Practical recommendations should aim to feed into potential large-scale initiatives.

The Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and the Natural Environment Research Council’s (NERC) joint call on the hidden histories of environmental science is now open for applications. Proposals should focus on colonial history or social injustices in UK environmental science and aim to produce practical recommendations for the future.
