Advice from a former Breast Cancer Now Project Grant winner

The 2023 round of Breast Cancer Now’s Project Grants opened to applications on 27 February, with a deadline for bids of 10 May. Researchers can apply for up to £250,000 for projects of one to three years’ duration.

Breast Cancer Now says it is committed to “supporting new investigators in breast cancer research” via its Project Grants, and this does not just mean early career researchers. For example, Damian Mole, professor of clinical and experimental surgery at the University of Edinburgh, made his name mostly thanks to his research on pancreatitis. In this article published in April 2021, he explains that assembling the right team was essential to winning the funder over.
