Newcastle uses strike savings to give students cash payouts

Salary savings used to pay final-year students

Newcastle University is offering final-year students up to £200 in cash saved during strike action, but it warned students should not expect fee rebates for Covid-19 teaching changes.

In a letter to students, Newcastle said it would spend the money it saved on salaries during the autumn and spring strike action this academic year on “a range of student-focused projects”.
