Union threatens strike action over face-to-face teaching

UCU warns of industrial action if students return to campus before Covid is under control

Staff at universities across the country could be asked to back strike action if teaching does not remain online until the end of the academic year, the University and College Union has said.

Although a small number of students on practical courses such as medicine have been allowed to return for in-person teaching, most have been told by the government to stay away from their institutions and study online until at least mid-February.
