Ucas deadline extension causing ‘uncertainty’ for universities

Institutions forced to wait before application numbers are known

A two-week extension to the traditional university application deadline, announced by admissions body Ucas earlier this month, is causing disruption behind the scenes at higher education institutions.

One vice-chancellor said the delay, which saw the “equal consideration” application deadline for the 2021-22 academic year pushed from 15 January to 29 January, means universities are unable to plan ahead as they would wish.
