Welsh minister says countries want to stay in Erasmus+ as homegrown alternative is ‘deeply disappointing’
Welsh education secretary Kirsty Williams has said she is working with ministers in Scotland and Northern Ireland to keep their membership of the Erasmus+ student exchange scheme, labelling the government’s proposed replacement, the Turing scheme, as “poor”.
During a press conference on 18 January, Williams said it had “always been the policy of the Welsh government that we should remain a part of Erasmus+” and that it was “deeply, deeply disappointing that the UK government has chosen not to do that”.
