A week is a long time in politics at the best of times, but in the worst of times—such as a global pandemic—even a bank holiday-curtailed half-term feels like an eternity.
Even though parliament itself is on its Whitsun recess, the slow-motion car crash continued yesterday. Most notable, perhaps, was Boris Johnson’s appearance before the House of Commons liaison committee—which is made up of the chairs of each of the select committees, in this case all assembled atop each other on Zoom like a pound-shop Celebrity Squares.
