Michelle Donelan has taken to Twitter to deliver a divisive series of messages

What could be more welcome than England’s universities minister using her social media platform to send a series of six messages aimed directly at university students? It has been a tough 10 months for the country’s pushed, pulled, shunted and scapegoated scholars—and no doubt many would be desperately keen to hear from their political representative.

Alas, what was written came across more as a political diatribe against universities than as a message for students. Did she really write the messages, or could they have come from elsewhere within government? Either way, this was anything but welcome.
