Figures on widening participation are released and the government is accused of no-platforming an academic

The latest government statistics on which young people go to university do not fit well with the messaging around ‘levelling up’.

The annual data from the Department for Education, published yesterday, cover young people’s participation by age 19 in higher education in 2019-20, broken down by student characteristics including gender, ethnicity, region and eligibility for free school meals.
