It is now just over five months since an independent investigation into Soas director Adam Habib, ordered after he used the N-word in a seminar attended by students, delivered its ruling.

For those with short memories, the London institution called in Judy Clements, former head of the Office of the Independent Adjudicator for Higher Education, to carry out an inquiry after Habib used the word in a webinar in March during a discussion about his institution’s response to the alleged use of racist language by another staff member.
