The free speech debate returns, as proposed legislation for England is scrutinised by MPs

Well, it didn’t take very long. This is just the third Playbook instalment of the new academic year and we are already back on one of our ‘favourite’ topics: free speech on campus. Specifically, the free speech bill that is now making its way through the committee stage in Westminster.

Yesterday, MPs packed out the Grimond Room at Portcullis House to hear a range of views on the controversial bill in two separate evidence sessions lasting a total of five hours. A fresh batch of amendments to the proposed legislation has also been published, which you can read at your leisure here if you feel so inclined.
