Taxation is back in the headlines after prime minister Boris Johnson announced plans for a 1.25 per cent rise in national insurance to ostensibly fund the growing demand for adult social care. Today’s Playbook is not concerned with the rights and wrongs of that, or indeed whether a penny of it will ever reach the front line of care provision.
