More industrial action is confirmed as pay discussions continue
Playbook is in danger of sounding like a stuck record this year as the main higher education headlines continue to be dominated by the University and College Union’s industrial action. The news cycle carries on in this vein today as the latest details from pay negotiations emerge, alongside a fresh strike announcement.
Yesterday evening, the UCU confirmed that its members at 150 institutions will walk out on 1 February as part of the campaign for improved pay, conditions and pensions. It is the first of 18 walkouts that the union has already announced will take place before March is out. Other strike days will be announced shortly.
