Analysis reveals cash position for Scottish universities before the pandemic

Nine universities in Scotland had reported financial deficits before the Covid-19 pandemic, according to an analysis by the Scottish Funding Council.

In a report exploring universities’ financial returns for the 2018-19 academic year, the SFC said that nine universities in Scotland reported deficits, the same number as the previous financial year and half of all higher education institutions.
