Relax age requirements for funding, says Zambia’s first astrophysics PhD

          

Africans often older at graduation ‘through no fault of their own’

Zambia’s first PhD graduate in astrophysics has urged research funders to relax age requirements for postgraduate bursaries for applicants from developing countries.

Brenda Nanumba told the Africa-Europe Science and Innovation Summit on 15 June that students in developing countries often graduate at an older age through no fault of their own and thus are ineligible for many scholarships.
