Fossil hunter is first holder of the post amid push to boost homegrown research

Richard Leakey, the renowned fossil hunter and palaeoanthropologist, has been named as the first research chair in palaeontology at Turkana University College in Kenya. 

TUC was promoted to university status in 2017. The chair is one of several ways in which the institution hopes to benefit from its fossil-rich surroundings to boost its research profile.
