Free education policy ‘fundamentally wrong’, says Parliamentary committee chairman

South African policy discriminates against students who enrolled before 2018, Mapulane says

Government policy on free higher education for poor students is “fundamentally wrong”, the head of the South African Parliament’s portfolio committee on higher education, science, and technology has said.

Philemon Mapulane of the African National Congress said it discriminates against students who were in the system before 2018, when the policy was officially rolled out.
