South Africa launches earth observation office

Pretoria hub will coordinate use of data for sustainable development

The South African National Space Agency has been selected to host the programme management office of Digital Earth Africa, an initiative that aims to make earth observation data available to improve the lives of Africans.

Data obtained by Digital Earth Africa is being used, among other purposes, to monitor forests in Benin, coastlines in Senegal, and lakes in Chad.
