Scientists detect unseasonal flu in South Africa

                  

“Immunity gap” and relaxation of Covid-19 infection controls likely cause

South Africa has seen an unseasonal increase in influenza cases since August, its National Institute for Communicable Diseases has warned.

Flu cases detected by South Africa’s influenza surveillance programme rose from 68 in the last week of August to 226 in the first week of November.
