Finance minister Enoch Godongwana announces windfall for space science, but cuts for innovation
The Department of Science and Innovation in South Africa received a small R70 million ($4.5m) increase in the mid-term budget adjustment announced on 11 November.
New finance minister Enoch Godongwana (pictured) awarded the DSI R72.3m more for the remainder of the 2021/22 financial year than had been allocated for it in the February budget, which saw a recovery from devastating cuts due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
