Upgrade will bring network on a par with Europe and the US

South Africa’s national research network has increased its connection speeds tenfold after an upgrade to network infrastructure.

The South African National Research Network and the Tertiary Education and Research Network of South Africa (TENET) announced the completion of the upgrade on 23 February. The networks now offer speeds of 100 gigabits per second, which the organisers say is “on par” with network speeds in Europe and the United States.
