Chapter nine institution ‘not happy’ with policies in higher education

The Commission for Gender Equality is concerned about the state of sexual harassment policies in South Africa’s higher education institutions, its CEO has said.

Jamela Robertson voiced her worries during the second day of the inquiry by Parliament’s portfolio committee on higher education, science, and technology into Peter Mbati, the vice-chancellor of Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University. Mbati has been accused of sexual harassment and mismanagement during his time as the vice-chancellor of the University of Venda. He has denied any wrongdoing.
