Nzimande vows to spend more on campus safety

But science minister says gender-based violence is a society-wide problem

South Africa’s higher education minister Blade Nzimande has promised that the government will invest billions to ensure safety on university campuses.

Speaking at the 4 September funeral of Nosicelo Mtebeni, a Fort Hare student who was murdered in August, he vowed to create safe environments for all students, especially for women.
