MPs call for ‘skills audits’ in South African universities

                            

Committee says it was “misled” by witness about qualifications

All of South Africa’s universities should audit the qualifications of their staff to ensure that they actually meet the job requirements, a parliamentary committee has demanded.

The Portfolio Committee on Higher Education, Science and Innovation is calling for these “skills audits” because it says it was misled by a senior member of staff at one university over her qualifications during a recent inquiry.
