Renamed programme to highlight research development and outputs

Strengthening research is a priority of a renamed scheme to support the country’s historically disadvantaged universities, South Africa’s minister of higher education, science and innovation has said.

Blade Nzimande was speaking on 22 July at the renaming ceremony of the Historically Disadvantaged Institutions (HDIs) Development Grants, which is now known as the Sibusiso Bengu Development Programme after democratic South Africa’s first education minister.
