Survey finds most universities unprepared for loadshedding

                     

South African universities face annual energy management reports and energy audits

The majority of South Africa’s public universities were unprepared when the country was plunged into frequent rolling power cuts last year, a survey has found.

At the end of last year—as outages reached an unprecedented 12 hours per day—only five universities had formulated an energy strategy, according to a survey conducted by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) and presented to Parliament on 24 February.
