Country needs to pick winners and think about outcomes earlier, Siemens Australia boss says

Australian research needs to become more focused on delivering real-world outcomes in a narrower set of fields, a national research conference has been told.

Jeff Connolly (pictured), who is heading up the federal government’s advisory group on commercialisation of university research, said that while Australia ranked highly on research, “we slide away in the world rankings of where we rank in the ability to commercialise that research”.
