Members of ARC College of Experts rebel over vetoed projects

Experts who selected projects for funding say minister has undermined Australian Research Council processes

Australia’s international standing is in danger of being damaged by ministerial interventions in public research funding, top researchers on the Australian Research Council’s College of Experts have warned.

In an open letter published on 19 January, around 140 college members defend their selection of projects for funding, saying that “the ministerial decision to override the ARC’s recommendations for funding undermines this process”.
