Consultation paper proposes changes to Australian Research Council, including legally enshrined protection for programmes
The Australian Research Council’s funding strategy may be set into law and a new board created, under proposals from a national review panel.
The ARC board was disestablished in 2006, but it may be recreated and given powers to recommend appointments and to direct policy, according to the review’s recommendations. The report also suggested that there should be curbs on ministerial vetos of ARC grants.
