Make Australia’s climate plan fairer, report urges

National Strategy for Just Adaptation calls for cross-disciplinary cooperation to protect the most vulnerable

Australia’s climate change efforts should be widened to include “social, political and behavioural strategies and systems change”, a report has said.

The National Strategy for Just Adaptation, from the Australian Academy of Science’s Future Earth Australia programme, says that current climate efforts define fairness too narrowly. Future Earth Australia director Petra Lundgren said there needed to be a move away from “technical elements” and towards social considerations.
