Queensland budget backs industry R&D partnerships

State appoints next chief entrepreneur and provides funding boost for clean energy, defence and aerospace

The latest Queensland state budget has committed A$350 million to encouraging R&D in vital industries.

The budget, announced on 15 June, provided the A$350m allocation to the state’s Industry Partnership Program over four years, to be spent on advancing the manufacturing, hydrogen, biomedical, defence and space industries. Of that total, A$20m will go to the Translational Research Institute to help ‘pure’ research find real-world applications.
