CSIRO moves into psychedelics

Australian organisation announces licence and partnerships to investigate medicinal use of psychedelic drugs

Australia’s Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation has been issued a licence to conduct research into psychedelic drug treatments.

In an announcement on 18 May, CSIRO said it was moving into the research area to investigate the use of psychedelic drugs in treating mental illness. It said it would “work with local biomedical companies to extract, synthesise, improve and then develop manufacturing processes for up to 15 different psychedelic compounds”.
