Programme to improve Indigenous health links supported, but university staff are left “angry” by budget

Australia’s federal budget has granted A$10 million to a network that will bring together Indigenous health researchers.

The network, funded through the National Health and Medical Research Council, will support almost 100 chief and associate investigators into Indigenous health. The money was announced on 12 May, the day after the main budget was released. It follows a round of consultation with Indigenous researchers in late 2020 and a special call for research projects from the council earlier this year.
