Universities welcome Australian budget

No major shifts in direction, but sector reacts positively to range of budget measures

Funding for 20,000 new university places is the biggest win for higher education in Australia’s latest budget.

Treasurer Jim Chalmers (pictured) announced the budget on 25 October, also committing funding of A$10.3 million to support Asia-Pacific representation on the International Science Council.
