Science academy welcomes plan to overhaul nature protection

Proposal could see creation of dedicated environment authority, as well as nationwide data system

The Australian Academy of Science has welcomed plans to reform Australia’s environmental protection system to ensure it remains effective.

A detailed plan for an overhaul, which was released on 8 December, includes the creation of a national Environmental Protection Authority and a national environmental data system.
