Australian Research Council scrutinises effectiveness of university research quality benchmarks

A discussion paper issued by the Australian Research Council on the Excellence in Research for Australia standards has thrown open the way “quality” of research is defined.

The paper and accompanying consultation also consider potential changes to the relatively new Engagement and Impact Assessment rankings, which measure how well research is translated into “real world” outcomes.
