Academia-industry collaboration must improve if Australia wants better commercialisation outcomes, government told

Australia needs to get more value out of university-based research and move to a “mission-driven” research model, an advisory group has told the federal government.

In a discussion paper, the national working group on research commercialisation says reforms should include more formal “staging” of R&D to reduce risks, overall cultural change and better incentives for universities to work on commercial research.
