Higher education groups support draft rules for qualifying as an Australian university, with reservations

Proposed Australian university research guidelines are on the right track but need to take more account of the government’s commercialisation agenda and existing research assessment exercises, the national standards authority has been told.

The Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency is drawing up definitions of the research standards that must be met for an institution to qualify as a university, as part of law reforms passed earlier this year.
