Is the push for industry collaboration and commercialisation of university research too little, too late?

This month legislation that radically overhauls which Australian institutes of higher learning can describe themselves as ‘universities’ came into force. One little-noticed clause in the framework proves the wisdom of always reading the fine print.

The Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2021 is the latest move in the government’s ongoing campaign to encourage greater collaboration between Australia’s HE sector and industry (see: When is a university not a university?).
