University of Melbourne institute criticised over political links

The executive director of a new research institute at the University of Melbourne has said that she would “welcome discussion” about its subject, Robert Menzies, but has rejected calls for it to be disowned by the university.

The National Union of Students is running a campaign against the university’s involvement in the Menzies research institute, which is to be based in the historic Old Quad.
