Public researchers and industry are still struggling to find common ground in Australia, with government leadership needed on priorities, Universities Australia’s annual conference has heard.

University of Adelaide vice-chancellor Peter Høj said that university investment in research had risen over the past decade, even as national spending on R&D decreased.
