French funders sign joint promise to back open science

Move follows government objective to promote knowledge sharing and accessible archiving

More French research results will be published in publicly accessible journals, following a joint declaration by five of the country’s research funding bodies.

In their declaration, the funders hinted that projects planning to divulge their results through open access means would stand a higher chance of winning funding. They would, however, have a choice in which kind of depository or open-access library they want to store their publications.
