Projects to combat sexism in universities receive funding

Ministry urges universities to develop institutional measures to prevent and deal with abuse on campus

Stating that it was “fully committed to the fight against gender-based and sexual violence”, France’s research ministry last week published the results of its call for projects to address sexism and abuse in higher education and research.

The call—dubbed Support for higher education and research establishments in the fight against gender-based and sexual violence—was launched by the ministry in July. Its aim is to “make visible” and improve the functioning of mechanisms for reporting acts of violence, discrimination, harassment and sexist behaviour in a higher education setting.
