Conference of academic leaders states that ‘uncertain society’ needs research more than ever
France’s Conference of University Presidents (CPU) launched a declaration to mark its 50th anniversary, saying that academics make a major contribution in a society “plagued by deep concerns and uncertainties”.
In a statement announcing its jubilee, the CPU stressed the importance of academic freedom and highlighted the universal mission of universities—the uninhibited pursuit and distribution of knowledge.
