ANR funds 20 exploratory programmes to enhance “strategic priority fields”

France’s National Research Agency (ANR), the country’s main public research funder, is planning to launch a spate of programmes in areas identified as of strategic national importance.

A total of 20 programmes will be selected in three funding rounds throughout 2021, under a strategy called Priority Research Programmes and Equipment (PEPR). The funds for the programmes will come from the Investments in the Future 4 (PIA4) programme, first announced in October 2020.
